A Postacard from Space is a travel documentary project. The goal of our journey is to make the first film about the greatest tourist attraction in Sweden. We will try to answer the question that we and the creators of the Sweden Solar System really want answered: Why is it that the project still has not gained popularity worldwide?
“The Postcard from Space” is a journey through the biggest permanent scale model of our Solar System. The Sun is represented by the Globen (Stockholm) – largest hemispherical building in the world. The inner planets can also be found in Stockholm but the outer planets are situated northward in other cities along the Baltic Sea.
The journey through the Swedish Solar System is a nearly 1,400 km long road leading to the north of Sweden. Our basic assumption is to go to those places where there are planets, moons or other celestial bodies. We want to create a beautiful story around them, meet increadible people, get to know their dreams and problems they face every day.
It is going to be the first documentary movie about this unic tourist attraction.
Aldona. I am a founder of the web site Pofikasz – o Szwecji po polsku. I write ever since I remember, and my first “publication” was a cookbook. I was six years old and wrote abmitious recipe for scrambled egg. I worked as an editor in TVN24 for over five years. I am Sweden-lover, film editor, graduate of international relations at the University of Warsaw. I am fascinated by two extreme cultures – Scandinavian and Latin American. Today, first of all, I am Felix’s mother.
Adam. Director and great cinema lover. At the age of 11, he went to Sweden with his parents. In Stockholm he graduated from high school and film courses. He returned to Warsaw to study at the Warsaw Film School, where he met his future wife (me). If he’s not watching a movie, he either reads about it or talks about it. In his film etudes, she always tries to discuss topics that are timeless. At the moment, he is preparing for his graduation film.
Feliks – the youngest man in space. He’s giving his parents a rough ride and surely you’ll witness that many times. At the beginning of this journey he will be less than a two-year-old boy. He already made his firts time travel. He came into the world exactly at the moment of time change from winter to summer time. His grandma immediately said that he opened the gate to space this way.
Józef. A retired pilot of military jets. In the 1950s he was training on Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17. He graduated from the Military University of Technology at the Faculty of Electronics. For more than 30 years he worked at the Air Force Institute of Technology, where he conducted scientific work. He spent many years in Libya, where he trained a polish contingent. Later he left for Syria, where he worked at the Polish Embassy in Damascus as a military attache. He documented each day. He has hundreds of hours of recordings from places that no longer exist, ruined by the ongoing war.
Alina. She took up the hardest job in the world – raising up three children. Aldona is her youngest daughter. She graduated from a nursing school and she’s a pedagogue by education, graduated from the University of Warsaw. The most beautiful memory from the youthful years is a trip to Finland, which ended on the Norwegian Nordkapp – the northernmost point on the European map.
